At Camp Karis, Ubay Bohol

When I learned that the Bohol Baptist Church Camp is set to happen on May, Hubby and I started praying that for a hassle-free trip. We don’t want the last year’s problem happen again this time especially now that we are traveling with an infant. Praise and thank be to God for He answered our prayer.
We left the church this morning at 6:30 this morning and we reached the camp site, Camp Karis, at around 10:30 am. There was no big trouble except that the multi-cab overheated for a while. We waited the vehicle to cool down for few minutes then we continued our travel. Instead of traversing the path we took last year, Hubby and our Pastor agreed to take the coastal road. But they didn’t have a clear understanding which coastal way to take. So our pastor took the left coastal way. By the way, Ubay is exactly on opposite of Panglao
I also prayed for comfortable accommodation since we brought the baby with us. I was hoping that we avail a separate room from the pastor and pastor’s wife quarter so that when the baby sleeps she would not be disturbed. Plus I want to make sure that our belongings are secured. And that too was answered. There was still one available room left when we arrived and it was given to us. The room has a minimal rental fee of Php 300/day. The room is big and it has its own toilet and bath room.

I received earnest answers to my prayer. And I expect more as the Word of God is preached this evening.

Activity Pad

As I mentioned on my previous post, we went out this day to have a buffet lunch at The Prawn Grill Seafood and Grill. As we headed towards the entrance/exit of Island City Mall, I noticed a section at the lower ground floor which sells books. I quickly looked for an activity book for my eldest which she can bring on Monday. This is to keep her busy during the idle time of the camp days. She loves coloring and solving mazes. In the future, she might also be interested with brain teaser puzzle.

6 Years and Counting

Today marks my 6th wedding anniversary with my husband. There was no ~~big~~ celebration just a buffet lunch at The Prawn Farm Seafood and Grill. It was already an improvement from last year’s which was at Chowking. After the lunch we had a quick visit to the grocery to buy the things that we need to buy for our camp this coming Monday. After which we already headed home.

It is not convenient and wise to stay longer outside because we brought our little one and our eldest. There was no one we could leave them while we were out. Besides, I’m breastfeeding the li’l girl. So we have to go home immediately as we don’t want to expose the li’l one to the crowd for long.

Anyway, as I always believe, celebration does not matter much. The more important thing is we are both thankful unto our God that He kept our family intact for the last six years despite all the challenges and adjustments. We are also thankful that we are a happy and contented family serving our God.

To my dearest husband, Happy Anniversary dear! Let us keep on praying that God will keep our family happy and whole. And may the Lord help us surpass all the trials that we may bump along the way of our marriage life. Love you! Mwah!

Dwelling Place

As an associate pastor’s family, we were allowed live inside the church compound and occupy the parsonage. Our dwelling place is right at the back of the church’s stage.

The house is not new. All the previous pastors who helped in the ministry here stayed in the same house. The house was newly painted when we transferred here more than a year ago but even the paint could not hide the repairs need to be done. But because there is no budget for the repairs we could not start the fixing them. Oh well, hubby attends to the little repairs which need no budget like a little patching here and screwing there. I just don’t know if he secured the screws with cotter pin. I hope he did for added safety.

Whenever I see a beautiful house, I could not help myself admire the house. Then I will remember God’s promise that He prepared a mansion for me in heaven and it comforts me.

Economy Is Getting Tougher

Economy is getting tougher as the day passes by. Everyday, the prices of the basic commodities are continuously rising while the salary of the laborers like me remains stagnant. Making the end meets is indeed a challenge much more saving up for the future.
I know that in a healthy financial living at least 10% of the income should go to the “piggy bank” for the future or unexpected expense. But in my family’s case, even if we want to save a little amount, we just couldn’t. That amount is still used to provide a meal for the entire family. So even if I want to invest on annuities and avail of the best annuities rates for me and hubby’s retirement days, that is simply impossible at the moment.

Opposite Poles

Hubby and I are in opposite poles when it comes to music. He is indeed my better-half in this area. He knows to play several instruments while I don’t know any. He can sing well while I’m always out of tune. But thank God, our eldest didn’t inherit my tone deafness. And because hubby can play musical instrument a bit well, he can also recognize a good instrument from an ordinary one while for me an avanti is just the same with any other guitar.

God is really all-knowing. He complements me with someone who has the talents I don’t have

Pillows

A good pillow is a big factor of having a good night sleep. According to an article I’ve read sometime ago, pillow should be replaced yearly.

There are cheap fiber pillows sold in Divisoria and the quality is also good. This is where we buy our pillows and bed linens. If we don’t only machine-wash our pillows, probably, the pillows wouldn’t lose their original shape and puffiness.

In our case, we really need to replace our pillows every year because they get deformed due to washing and spinning. The pillows are supposed to be replaced last January but when hubby and I checked the pillows in the local stores, they are much expensive than what we buy in Divisoria and the quality is not the impressive. I could make our pillows by myself only if there is available fiberfill. So we need to wait until we go to Manila to buy new pillows.

Malunggay – Good For Breastfeeding Mothers

Malunggay is good for breastfeeding mothers. It helps the mother’s body to produce more milk. I have proven this. When I feel my milk is running out, I’ll just cook a dish with Malunggay or will simply prepare a Malunggay soup. Malunggay soup is just boiled water with Malunggay with ginger and chicken cube . After a meal with Malunggay, I can feel that my breasts are full with milk again.

Unfortunately, Malunggay is not being sold in the market here in Panglao. It is only being asked from those who has Malunggay plant in their yard. So whenever we need Malunggay, we have to ask from church members or from neighbors who have a plant of it.

Hubby planted some stems of Malunggay few days ago. So we don’t need to ask from other people all the time

Breast milk is not only good for babies but for mommies too, this is what my daughter’s pediatrician told me and my husband when she thought that I need further persuasion to breastfeed my daughter. Although I agree with her statement, she does not need to convince me further because I am decided to exclusively breastfeed my daughter.

No need to get up during night. Because the breast milk is always and readily available. I’ll just pull my shirt up and give her my breast, and presto, she has her milk. There is no need to get up during night to prepare for milk. There is also no chance to miss the correct number of spoons for the milk.
Natural Family Planning. No need to worry of getting pregnant while exclusively breastfeeding the child.
Weight Management. Breastfeeding is good means of losing weight if continued beyond one year. This is the best all natural diet pills that work without expense, effort and side effect.
